GovContract Funding (GCF) - a Northern Virginia based consulting firm arranging receivables (factoring) and P.O. financing for businesses having difficulty qualifying for bank financing or that had a falling out with their bank. Clients located across the U.S., with businesses in many different market sectors including: staffing, distribution, wholesaling, transportation, agriculture, services, communications and others.

Worked with commercial borrowers in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland, in addressing their credit and depository needs. Also, oversaw the operations of the bank's Consumer Lending Department. The recession forced this financial institution to cut back in its staffing.

Role included building the proposed bank's loan portfolio, establish credit and depository related products and services, determine credit decision making systems, loan documentation and compliance systems. Developed correspondent banking relationships for loan warehousing purposes. Jointly met with investors in capital raising efforts. Interacted with bank regulators in meeting requirements to establish the bank.As "sub-prime meltdown" gained greater and greater national attention, bank stock values began to decline rapidly. Some institutional investors in proposed bank became nervous about a potential decline in the value of their investment if the bank were to open. They ultimately withdrew their financial support and consequently management decided to discontinue its efforts to open the bank.

New division in the DC area for Commerce Bank. Assisted in developing the strategic and marketing plans for the Not For Profit Division. Developed a strong business referral network while helping to grow the region's loan portfolio and core deposit base. This was a small group consisting of the group manager and myself, which successfully attracted 8-figures in deposits to the bank in our first year.

The firm had a presence in Orlando, FL, Reston, VA and Ashburn, VA and worked with clients throughout the nation.Sensible Funding Solutions existed to raise debt and equity capital for business, develop and implement business plans, and work with businesses interested in working with the federal government by preparing forward rate proposals and GSA Schedule proposals.

Served as a new business development officer and one of the group's senior lenders. From 1992 - 1994 served as SVP and Manager of Crestar Bank's Small Business Lending Group for the MD/DC/NoVA region. This position reported to the retail side of Crestar Bank and provided support to Crestar Bank's large branch network. This group had lenders in offices in DC and in Fairfax, VA and successfully grew the portfolio significantly while improving the quality of the portfolio. When the small business lending function was consolidated to Richmond, VA, I moved into a new position in the bank's Not For Profit Division.

LOGIS served as an interim/PT CFO/Financial Advisory firm offering services to small businesses. LOGIS focused heavily on working with government contractors.

Started out as a lender at NS&T Bank working exclusively with government contractors, successfully growing the portfolio to the point where additional backoffice support was hired to assist in managing the portfolio. NS&T was acquired by United Va Bank and changed the merged name to Crestar. I was moved to a middle market lending group to help further the bank's presence in that market.
