About Jim Steward

I’ve been in telecommunications for over 20 years (SBC to Cingular to AT&T). I started in RAN (Radio Access Network) doing translations then moved into an RF engineering role within the RAN group. I performed a multitude of functions within the areas of RF design to RF optimization, achieving successive engineering levels over the course of 12 years ending as a Senior RAN Engineer, before entering management in 2010. My first management role was RF Design Area Manager. I fulfilled this role for 5 years before moving to Optimization Area Manager. After six years of management, I moved into a Director of RAN role in the South Texas market where I currently am today. I’ve been involved in the technology roll outs of 1G to 5G from design concepts to launch. The challenges that keep me interested are strategically developing solutions for the ever increasing capacity demands of the network - while simultaneously improving coverage, quality, working within challenging timelines and delivering on budget.
