I am happily retired enjoying my continuous vacation immensely; however, a proverbial "offer too good to refuse" would receive my full attention, and serious consideration.Although I never worked in IT, I did introduce computer technology into the various departments I worked in including: establishing an Apple IIe based company-wide BBS (pre-WWW), designing a VAX based record keeping system, developing / hosting the first intranet page for my department, designing / coding a dBase III / FoxPro database which saved $50K+ in contract administration costs, and introducing decentralized word processing via an Apple IIe. A proprietary, company application needed some critical code changes. Unfortunately the developer had left the company, and documentation was not available. I reverse engineered the application, made the critical changes, and developed a user friendly front-end to allow other company employees, both local, and country wide, to make anticipated future changes without any programming / code knowledge. Time has passed since I accomplished the described tasks. However, the drive, passion, skills, and innovativeness to identify current, and potential problems, and to implement technological solutions to prevent / solve them is still as sharp, and focused as ever along with a keen eye for streamlining processes.I still continuously follow tech advancements from various sources, and regularly attend tech meetings which fortunately are plentiful in Boston.
