The Texas Balance of State is a diverse continuum. We cover 215/254 counties in the State, equivalent to ~84% of the landmass. We serve some of the most resilient innovative communities in the Nation, and most definitely the State of Texas. Participants earn $15/hour working in service of the community on projects like large-scale environmental clean up, invasive species removal, general contracting and abatement services, and more. Mobile Hygiene Clinic delivers essential services directly to Austin’s homelesspopulation by mobilizing shower trailers with hygiene/first-aid, clothing, and food to sites throughout the Austin area.Esperanza Community: In August 2020 TOOF relocated our Headquarters to the site of the Esperanza Community, the community of people living at the "State-sanctioned" encampment in Austin Texas offering pathways to sustainable housing and income. Since arriving we’ve deployed hygiene trailers, built a community kitchen, opened a day shelter, hygiene & laundry facilities, begun case management/housing navigation, established a weekly medical clinic with Community Care, and mental health services through Integral Care’s PATH Team 5 days a week. Responsible for the day-to-day and fiscal oversight of 4 HUD CoC Permanent Supportive Housing programs targeting Chronically Homeless Individuals. In addition, I am responsible for a Mental and Behavioral Health Contract that supports PSH participants to access Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing and Substance Abuse Treatment as needed.
