Jim was selected to the inaugural class of LEED Fellows. The LEED Fellow Program is GBCI’s new and most prestigious professional designation. The LEED Fellow designation recognizes exceptional contributions to green building and significant professional achievement within the rapidly growing community of LEED Professionals. Jim is also one of 12 original faculty selected to teach LEED workshops. He is Faculty Mentor serving the Council's efforts to develop new faculty and teaches courses covering a broad range of topics and levels for the Council internationally.

The Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles is dedicated to bringing awareness about the value of architecture and related arts to the general public and design professionals. AFLA is home to the Design Green competition that honors projects that integrate exceptional design with high performance building standards such as LEED and Living Building Challenge. James Weiner was founding Vice President of GreenWorks Studio while Senior Associate at Fields Devereaux Architects & Engineers. He introduced these firms to an integrated design process supported by benchmarking and computer simulation that resulted in a series of award winning projects. While guiding the greening of projects across a variety of building types, he was responsible for library design and planning. Civic library clients include the Cities of Gilroy, Beverly Hills, San Marino, and Los Angeles, and Ventura County. He created master plans for university libraries for the CSU campuses at Los Angeles and Pomona.

Starting as a contract project architect designing library projects, I became the firm's first Director of Sustainability and was Senior Associate with design and management responsibilities.

Led organizing committee with Lisa Mattheissen to establish this USGBC chapter. Worked many late and usually fun hours with a dedicated group of local design and construction industry professionals laying the groundwork for one of the most dynamic USGBC chapters in the world.

Santa Monica, Ca

Provided architecture, interior and graphic design services primarily for hospitality industry, non-profit affordable housing organization and residential clients. Specialties included lighting design, energy efficient design and accessibility. Work was featured in various publications and venues including Creative Lighting Design by Wanda Jankowski, PBC Int’l and a RAI-TV's "Ristoranti d’Autori" and honored with a Los Angeles City Beautification Award.
