I am Jinal Jain, a young, dynamic, gold-medalist graduate specialized in Technology in Disaster Management. With a Bachelor's degree in Geography (Honors) from Miranda House, University of Delhi, and a Master’s in Disaster Management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, I have built a strong foundation in both technical and social aspects of environmental challenges. My master’s thesis, was focused on creating a Coastal Infrastructure Resilience Index (CIRI) for Mumbai, which recognized with the Best Thesis Award 2023-24, TISS and the Berkner Travel Fellowship from AGU in 2023. This work involved developing an integrated geospatial framework for assessing resilience for the coasts of Mumbai and demonstrated my capability to apply advanced geospatial analysis to real-world issues. Additionally, my research was presented at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting, highlighting my commitment to impactful research.In my current role as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Bombay, I am involved in assessing the suitability of natural treatment systems for wastewater using GIS. My proficiency with tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, and Python complements my experience in remote sensing and data analysis. My academic and professional experiences include internships at CUSE, IIT Bombay, SEEDS India, and the District Disaster Management Authority, and fieldwork in drought-prone regions and tribal areas of Maharashtra. where I developed skills in conducting comprehensive literature reviews, data collection, research methodologies, scientific writing and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data. These experiences have provided me with a deep understanding of climate change impacts on vulnerable communities and the effectiveness of resilience strategies. I am also a two-time GATE qualifier with an AIR 81 in Geomatics Engineering, 2024.My interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from disaster management, social science, and geophysical understanding, positions me to address complex research questions effectively. I am eager to contribute my skills and experiences to advance research that tackles the pressing issues of climate change and environmental justice.
