I complete my Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a concentration in structural engineering. After I graduate, I realize I care deeply about urban sustainable development and my experience arouse my passion for innovative structural systems and sustainable and green cities.I participated in research with the Anhui Academy of Territory Spatial Planning & Ecology about optimizing and redesigning Hui-style traditional Chinese dwellings lead me into sustainable urban development. This experience allowed me to practice my undergraduate knowledge about innovative structural systems, and sustainable structural materials in real-life problems. On the other hand, this experience interested me in protecting and optimizing other Chinese historical structures in my future career, for example, Fujian Earthen Structure and Lingnan Architecture, as well as other modern structures. I believe my experience and knowledge can provide my abilities to contribute to structural innovation and sustainable development since it's an inevitable step for engineers to optimize existing structures to be sustainable, not only about protecting the cultural relic, mitigating the effects of natural hazards, and providing healthier living conditions for local residents, but also meaningful for applying advanced technologies and policies to adapt existing buildings to sustainable urban development.
