Lead Engineer - Flexible Pipe System OnshoreBaker Hughes Mar 2020 - Nov 2023Houston, Texas, UsProject Experience Pipe Venting- Addressed an existing issue pertaining to the venting design of the pipeline system in accordance with the guidelines established in the American Petroleum Institute (API) 15S standard- Executed a comprehensive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and identified the principal cause of system failure- Collaboratively worked with a senior engineer to formulate a feasible solution; this was achieved by integrating a venting layer within the pipeline design that defined a specific flow path for gas. This innovative design allows for effective venting at the designated location as required- The implemented venting solution does not impede the pipeline's fit, form, or function and, consequently, it does not necessitate re-qualification for the ongoing 10,000-hour regression test- In terms of financial implications, the venting solution has proven to be cost-efficient with an expense of less than 0.50 cents per foot Internal Swage End Fitting- Collaboratively designed an Internal Swage End Fitting using SolidWorks (Computer-Aided Design software) that offers dual actuation capabilities facilitated by hydraulic fluid or epoxy- Utilized internal resources to execute a 2D axisymmetric Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS software for design verification purposes- Collaborated with Product Management and third-party vendors to ensure the prototype was accurately constructed in line with design specifications- Conducted an Elevated Temperature Test (ETT) to validate the proposed design and ensure its robustness under varying temperature conditions- The newly developed end fitting has demonstrated improved pressure containment performance when compared to existing end fittings -
