Infrastructure InvestigationsI worked closely with Embedded Software Developers, DevOps, FPGA, Firmware, and Hardware teams to obtain an overview of the embedded system and how the communications are conducted between the high level software and the low level hardware. I observed the system infrastructure and the communication flow to conclude an approach to read LED status.

Product DevelopmentI worked on a .NET based application that quickly generates projection files from 3D CADs with a team of software developers. I enhanced the software's user experience by editing its layouts and implementing keyboard shortcuts. I upgraded the rendering process and refactored and cleaned up the code base to boost the application's overall performance. I contributed to the drafting of coding standards by delivering a detailed presentation on thread management. Product BugfixI adjusted the mouse-click event handler so that each selection scenario behaves exactly as the product owner had outlined. I modified the Wix Bootstrapper and the Jenkins script to eliminate installation and upgrade conflicts. Automated Cherry-picking Python ScriptI collaborated with another team member to propose and implement the automation script in order to reduce the release train cost. We utilized ChromeDriver to navigate through JIRA and Bitbucket and created a safe-pausing-and-resuming mechanism to handle merge conflicts.

Sprint PlanningI worked closely with the product owners, the software developer team, and the SQA team for sprint planning to ensure the product meets the customers' requirements and was released on time. I confirmed that all the bugs and new features were properly handled and were not causing any regressions by defining specific acceptance criteria and updating the test plans.QA InvestigationsI performed root cause analysis on firmware issues by capturing UDP packets with Wireshark while reproducing the issues and thus helped the software developers to resolve the issues. I collaborated with software developers to analyze memory dumps and stack tracing in order to resolve deadlocks and race conditions caused by improper thread management. I conducted exploratory testing on the one-host-multi-client feature to verify that it was bug-free and the test plans covered all scenarios. Flicker Meter ProjectI prototyped a new flicker meter design that increased the projection frequency measurement accuracy by at least 30%. I improved the accuracy by eliminating the ambient light influence with a signal conditioning circuit, adjusting the sampling frequency, shortening the compilation time with compiler optimization, and stabilizing the input voltage with a booster circuit consists of a 2nd order LC low pass filter. I enhanced the device safety and usability by designing power path management circuits for battery charging.

I employed EAM for maintenance planning and scheduled the activities such that the machine downtime was minimized and the maintenance efficiency was maximized. I helped to achieve the smooth operation in the plant by organizing weekly production meetings and documenting machinery parts in AutoCAD for easy replacement. I managed warehouse activities and purchase orders to ensure each work order was not blocked by the shortage of materials.

Participated in the research for optimizing bonding process and worked with a local startup to prototype custom-built testing machines.
