    • Developed a multi-scale numerical framework for cavitating bubbly flows, by combining Level Set Method for macro-scale gas/liquid interfaces and Lagrangian Discrete Bubble Model for micro-scale dispersed bubbles, with a transition scheme to smoothly bridge the two. This multi-scale framework has been successfully applied to model sheet-to-cloud cavitation over hydrofoils and large cavities in separated flows, gas separation in NASA vortex separators etc. • Developed a robust coupling… Show more • Developed a multi-scale numerical framework for cavitating bubbly flows, by combining Level Set Method for macro-scale gas/liquid interfaces and Lagrangian Discrete Bubble Model for micro-scale dispersed bubbles, with a transition scheme to smoothly bridge the two. This multi-scale framework has been successfully applied to model sheet-to-cloud cavitation over hydrofoils and large cavities in separated flows, gas separation in NASA vortex separators etc. • Developed a robust coupling scheme for an Euler-Lagrange model to simulate the collective behavior of microbubbles and their interaction with flow and nearby boundaries, leading to a wide spectrum of naval, energy and biological applications.• Developed a parallelization scheme for the Euler-Lagrange model for 3DYNAFS-VIS® multiphase flow solver using MPI, OpenMP and OpenACC. This parallelization scheme significantly reduces the computational time required for conducting simulations of engineering problems. Show less

  • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
    Postdoctoral Research Associate
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Sep 2007 - Aug 2010
    Troy, Ny
    • Developed a generalized quantitative subgrid air entrainment model for two-fluid modeling of free surface bubbly flow problems, which enabled the 1st-time quantitative numerical prediction of bubble concentration profiles around full-scale naval surface ships.
  • Institute Of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy Of Science
    Graduate Research Assistant
Institute Of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy Of Science Sep 2002 - Aug 2007
    Beijing, China
    • Developed a Macro-scale Particle Model to study particle clustering in suspension flows which integrated Smoothed Particle hydrodynamics (SPH) and other similar models for fluids, along with a Discrete Element Model for solid particles. It has been recognized in the Annu. Rev. Fluid Mech. (2008, 40) as work representing interesting alternative to existing methods for modeling gas-solid fluidization.
