I come from a linguistic background yet do coding in the banking industry currently. I've always been fascinated by how language brings people together. It conveys clear and concise messages in the business world and expresses subtle and implicit information in literature. My journey in the humanities has taught me to embrace diverse opinions, respect individuals from various backgrounds, and champion underprivileged groups.While the study of language has shaped me profoundly, my interests evolved during my postgraduate studies. I became increasingly drawn to the tech world and the exciting possibilities of combining language and technology. I spent almost a year learning front-end technologies, such as HTML, CSS, Javascript and React. The learning curve was steep, but I've always relished the feeling of solving projects.I refuse to limit my skill set to just front-end skills. Since kickstarting my career at HSBC, I've enthusiastically dived into back-end technologies and DevOps concepts during my first rotation. I believe that this Graduate Program offers me the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills through trial and error.I'm eager to connect with people in the tech, finance and humanities spheres, particularly those who, like me, made the transition from humanities to the tech world.
