For the past year, served in dual roles of Acting Director and Chief Advancement Officer following the departure of the director at the end of 2015. During tenure, the operating budget and staff grew by 125%. Created a 4- pronged growth model based on metrics identified in a 3-year Strategic Plan I was integral to drafting, which successfully aligned efforts on short-term needs with longer-term goals: Build internal capacity to scale efforts on a national level; develop content that aligns with the Center’s mission; shore up existing alliances and develop new strategic ones to build coalitions; and build and diversify donor base. Within the year, successfully created a strong foundation on which to transform the Center into a solid national resource and voice for the communities it serves:• Operationalized the process outlining required steps for program planning, including the creation and approval of concepts, timelines, budgets, goals and measurable outcomes; • Restructured the organization chart to accommodate for additional staff and create a more vertical organization to enable supervisory oversight of work and allow the acting director to better focus on implementing the priorities of the Strategic Plan, including fundraising; • Systematized communications and marketing as standard components for all Center activities, including launching innovative social media campaigns and managing press inquiries, in order to present a uniform message and brand, and to optimize on opportunities to promote the Center; and • Created four entirely new staff positions that would be key in helping to not only enhance the energy of the Center, but enable us to begin quickly conceiving and planning upcoming public programs.
