Jin is a seasoned executive and technologist since 2004 with a focus on development and marketing of a full suite AGI & MI optical connectivity solutions covering 100G, 200G, 400G, 800G to 1.6Tb/s, and silicon photonics platform, LiDAR, digital coherent technologies in recent years. With his innovative mind, technology insight, business acumen, and industry experiences, Jin has been leading multidimensional organizations and driving business & technology transformations with a track record of delivering bestselling innovative products for optical communications, data centers, AI & Cloud and beyond. In the meanwhile, Jin has been making contributions with his novel ideas that are critical to the success of leading edge products. He focuses on breakthrough in system architectures and fundamental components for a broad range of applications, including high speed silicon photonics, chip-to-chip & data center interconnect, LiDAR and etc. As VP of Intel Data Center Group & GM of R&D of its Silicon Photonics Product Division from early of 2019, Jin led a global multidisciplinary organization, designed and delivered Intel silicon photonics products from the ground up, in close collaboration with many partners internally and externally. Jin led successful releases of multiple new high speed silicon photonics products into volume production, gained new businesses, balanced R&D budget, and developed industry leading technologies. Prior to Intel, Jin served as an executive for about 15 years in public and successful startup companies spanning cross vertical chain in optical field from components to systems, while he went through multiple corporate M&As. Driving through those industry and technology transformations, Jin led successful development of new businesses and many bestselling products from optical chips, components, modules, to subsystems and systems for 10Gb/s to Tb/s direct & coherent applications. Jin is also an active supporter of professional community. He served in conference committees for years and gave invited & keynote speeches. He was once featured on the cover page of “Laser Focus World” magazine for his pioneering invention on widely tunable lasers essential to DWDM networks. Jin published many research papers and holds a number of granted or pending patents on fundamental components and system architectures.Jin earned his Ph.D. in EE from the University of Waterloo and was the recipient of the prestigious “Governor General Gold Medal of Canada”. He is elected to be the OPTICA FELLOW in 2024.
