About Jin Liu
What is the most important thing in learning mathematics well? Is it to be smart? But smart people give up first. Is it to study hard? Those who study hard will also give up in the next step. I think the most important thing in learning mathematics is to have courage. Not the kind of courage that pretends to be brave or pretends to be confident. Mathematical courage is when you can't solve a problem, instead of getting angry or giving up, say to yourself, it's really hard, try again tomorrow. So my biggest strength is to have the courage to challenge everything, not to give up when encountering things, but to try my best to make it. My education experience is the best example. Before going to university, I dreamed of becoming an experienced female software engineer in the future, so I chose Computer Science as my undergraduate major. Throughout my academic career, I have learned a lot of programming languages,e.g. C, C++, MATLAB,etc. But modifying the code was a long and self-doubting process. So for my postgraduate study, I decided to acquire more theoretical basis of mathematics, in order to regain my interest in improving programming skills with the help of mathematics. My specialities include mathematical modeling, finite element method programming, artificial neural network. And I am always driven, curious and enthusiastic to learn new skills. Now, I am going to get graduated from my master study. I think I have the courage to take up the new challenges.
