• Discovered the genome-wide evolutionary pattern of DNA base composition by analyzing about 10 millions of polymorphic sites from over 400 plant genomes using Perl, R, and Linux command line tools• Established the connection among UV radiation, mutation, DNA repair, methylation, and genome evolution through analyzing large SNP data, methylomic data, short reads data with bioinformatics techniques and statistical methods• Designed primers in a largely autonomous fashion and conducted the experiments to validate the haplotypes of flowering time genes in 8 maize genome assemblies• Mined data from about 7000 eukaryotic genome assemblies, and performed statistical modeling and prediction on chromosome size• Coordinated with researchers from AgPixel on unmanned aerial vehicle overflights and data extraction for a high-throughput field phenotyping project• Established a parallel computing pipeline on high performance computing cluster for genome-wide association analysis of vegetation indices traits in about 1800 maize lines with 21 million SNPs• Collaborated with team members to study genotype by environment interaction in multiple plant species
