Our data was used to remotely determine crop stage along with disease and pest pressures affecting food security and optimized yields.

BusinessWorks was an early player in the "Multimedia" world. We immersed ourselves creating highly interactive online learning system for Fortune 500 companies such as American Airlines, Frito Lay, Ericcson, Texas Instruments, Nortel, Collins Radio, Epic Healthcare etc. From our media development, we developed one of the early Content Management Systems (CMS) for delivering and managing online course materials. We were acquired by Attenza.

We created sensors, instrumentation and automated monitoring systems used for predictive maintenance in power plants, refineries and paper mills. We used sophisticated techniques to predict bearing problems in heavy rotating machinery before failures occurred. These problems could be fixed during normal scheduled shutdowns preventing millions of dollars of downtime and saving of lives for unexpected failures.

We created software tools for designing and simulating control systems such as used in aircraft flight controls, missile guidance systems, disk drives and antilock brakes and more. We also built an innovative software engineering tool (CASE) for automatically generating embedded code to implement control systems. This was used as a rapid prototyping tool for automotive applications and for real-time missile guidance simulators. ISI merged with WindRiver Systems and IPO'd.

SMS created software applications for performing dynamic structural analysis (modal analysis) for automotive, aerospace, and disc drive industries. We were used extensively in the automotive industry to validate finite element models with actual prototypes early in the design cycle. We also had cool modules that could play the "what if" game with structural test data: what if I increased the stiffness or damping between points A & B or attached a tuned absorber to point X. We would predict new mode shapes and resonant frequencies to provide design engineers a heuristic feel for how their structure characteristics could be altered. We were acquired by public company General Radio.

I worked with the Digital Signal Analysis and Laser Interferometer (DSA/LASER) products of HP located at the Santa Clara and Lake Stevens Divisions. We built low frequency (DC-25KHz) spectrum analyzers based on discrete fast Fourier transforms used in mechanical and acoustical analysis of structures. The Laser Interferometers were used to measure micro-inch resolution of motion in machine tools and positioning systems.
