Spirit analysis including alcoholic strength, acidity, esters, methanol and the higher alcohols is carried out using density meter, titration and capillary GC-FID. Full elemental analysis of water and spirit samples is carried out using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Method verification and uncertainty calculation for the labs UKAS accreditation are carried out as necessary.

Part of my responsibilities in the shop included opening up the shop and on occasion locking up, dealing with customers both over the phone and in person, as well as processing orders, using the till, and keeping the shop floor tidy and stocked. Communication was key in this job, both with the customers and their children and with colleagues. Organisation skills were also required, both in maintaining a tidy shop and in reorganizing the stock room whilst ensuring that everything was laid out in a logical order.
