I am intern in the wellness center at the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA. My responsibilities since beginning this internship have included making wellness recommendations and programs for people, personal training, helping with the upkeep of the facility, meeting with clients, and working with a team to make sure that the wellness center is running smoothly.

I was responsible for greeting guests by name, taking drink and food orders, entering those orders into the POS system, communicating with the kitchen and my other co-workers if there is any special request I could not complete on my own, serving the food and drinks to the table and to the appropriate person without having to ask who ordered what, and clearing that table and presenting a check once the meal was completed.We were also expected to interact with the customers on a personal level and make them feel as welcome as possible as well as have the best fine dining experience that we could give them. My job also included setting up for service, setting for parties, weddings, and events, setting and maintaining a buffet, clearing tables and doing whatever else my boss and co-workers needed from me during events. I still waitress here when I am home on breaks.

I advertised, organized, and managed a summer camp for kids this past summer. Our goal of the camp was to teach children ages 3-12 the basics of horseback riding and horse care as well as giving them a loving and caring environment to learn about life on the farm. We taught riding lessons each day, taught a horse care lesson each day, went canoeing, hiking, fed the farm animals, went swimming, did crafts, and much more. We tried our best to give each child their own unique experience and memories to carry with them.For the past two years I have also taught lessons and acted as the head barn hand of our equestrian facility. As a lesson instructor, I worked 10 hours a week teaching my ten clients a private, weekly lesson. I focused on giving them a well-rounded education on both the basics of riding and the basics of horse care. My main goal was for each lesson to be an educational, but also a good experience for every rider. My focus was always on building the rider's confidence by providing a safe learning environment.

I was a nanny for the summer of 2013. I was in charge of 4 children, who were all under the age of ten at the time. I worked 8:30AM to 5PM Monday through Friday. I was in charge of feeding the kids breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was my responsibility to make sure they made it to their practices, dance lessons, workouts, etc. I planned fun activities for the children each days that included amusement parks, hikes, museums, horseback riding, swimming, and much more. It was also my responsibility to complete the daily household chores and keep everyone happy and healthy. The most important part of my job was making sure the kids knew that I was someone they could trust and be comfortable with. I loved the children that I had the opportunity to spend time with that summer and I am still a trusted babysitter for that family when I am in the area.
