I oversee the day-to-day operations of KCUW.Some of my direct responsibilities include: Volunteer recruitment, training and supervision. Solicitation of donations and underwriting to sustain operations. Syndicated program selection, placement and subscription management. FCC broadcast compliance. Recruit guests/produce weekly talk shows live and post-production. Audio editing, mixing, formatting. Digitize historical recorded media into modern formats.     I oversee operations for our Legislative Affairs, monthly newspaper publication, non-profit radio station, government websites, official social media channels and our newly developed mobile app. I manage administrative matters for each of the previously listed communications channels including program budgets which involve multiple revenue sources and expenditures that are guided by strict internal fiscal policies. I develop visual program materials that convey our Tribal interests to external political delegations. I prepare and assist in the development of press releases, talking points or official statements as well as drafting position papers or correspondences for elected officials. I am the primary liaison with the news media and coordinating response to inquiries from news reporters. I provide essential proactive engagement information through our websites by writing copy and creating unique content for the Tribes multiple social media channels. These involve utilizing professional graphic design programs to create infographics, videos, presentation reports, newspaper ads, radio ads and digital billboard displays that are of interest to our Tribal membership. I develop annual work plans for our departmental programs, produce six month progress reports and the Annual Report that is sent out to our tribal membership. My permanent position is that of the Operations Manager for the radio, one of our Tribe’s channels of information dissemination. Here my responsibilities continue to be providing oversight on administrative, financial, and technical operations. Within my tenure at the radio station, I received two national journalism award from NAJA for general excellence and best news story. I also fulfill the role of Publisher for our Tribal newspaper. Here I ensure that advertising requests are honored, letters to the editor are included, writing occasional articles and providing thorough and final editorial review over each page before it goes to print.
