I work at the Strategy Unit of Harvard Business School researching the emerging of new markets in deep technology spaces including quantum computing, VR and AI. I also work in science policy matters that address efficiency and biases in the way we pursue science, and how sociopolitical and economic factors influence the development of new technologies. I want to spark awareness about the politics and human conditions that permeate the development of new technologies, and the ethical and ecosystemic implications that these misunderstood correlations have on our global modern society.I have prior experience in molecular magnetism, organic electronics, spintronics, graphene solar cells, and electrochemical biosensors. I aspire to get more involved in policy initiatives that comprise technology development, regulations, knowledge transfer, public-interest technologies, ethical technological adoption and industrial implementation. I want to investigate and craft well-rounded solutions to ambiguous and uncertain societal challenges and broaden access to advanced technologies responsibly. I believe that multidisciplinary approaches and coordination involving academia, citizens, government, and the industry as stakeholders are key to address those challenges. I'm also passionate about volunteering, research, and fostering change and adaptation in our society.

Research AssociateHarvard Business School Nov 2023 - PresentBoston, Massachusetts, United StatesLeveraging my background in nanotechnology and quantum science, I analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to describe how emerging tech companies in the space of quantum technologies navigate and influence innovation at the ecosystem level amidst technological ambiguity. My work identifies the key narratives and strategies that firms curate, and then traces the unfolding impact on technology development and transfer. This early-stage work aims to expand on our knowledge of decision-making in uncertain contexts, and the dynamics that facilitate commercialization of new technologies. -
Graduate ResearcherMit Department Of Nuclear Science And Engineering Sep 2021 - Sep 2023Boston, Massachusetts, United StatesWorking in the Emerging Technologies Group at the Industrial Performance Center studying emerging technology policies around quantum engineering from technologies for energy and battery applications to quantum computing and communications -
Graduate Student AssistantLeibniz Institute For Solid State And Materials Research Dec 2020 - Aug 2021Dresden, Saxony, Germany(Paused) Master thesis project on single molecular magnets at IFW Dresden. Studied relaxation-time and exchange couplings in endohedral metallofullerenes through computational simulations and SQUID magnetometry at low temperatures. Achievement of axial magnetic anisotropy with fullerene-confined crystal fields is sought in the context of molecule-based memories. -
Intern In MagnonicsHelmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (Hzdr) Jul 2020 - Sep 2020Dresden Area, GermanyLearned and used spatially-resolved Brillouin Light Scattering (μBLS) and Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect (MOKE) to study spin-waves, and their propagation in Yttirum-Iron Garnet (YIG) films with stripe domains. Also, how chiral-texture structures structures influence scattering/propagation properties. Also studied 4-magnon scattering spectra of laterally-confined CoFe films with different geometries to investigate magnon resonance and modes. -
Intern In MemsImec Mar 2020 - May 2020Leuven, Flemish Region, BelgiumDeveloped an analytical model to estimate the performance of a novel optical-magnetometer composed of an “on-chip” membrane coupled to an optical ring resonator.Validated results using COMSOL Multiphysics software package.Modeled possible localized heat effects caused by Joule heating. -
Technical Support For Digital DevicesAmazon Jun 2019 - Aug 2019Assisted customers with handling and management of digital devices commercialized by Amazon.com (USA market) by phone and email. Took part of the local employee sustainability chapter of the operation site. -
Intern In SpintronicsInesc-Mn Jul 2018 - May 2019Lisbon Area, PortugalWorked on the optimization of magnetoresistive bionsensors, specifically, top-pinned spin valves, and their integration onto CMOS layouts for scanning imaging systems. Responsibilities include: Ion beam deposition and etching of magnetic-thin-film structures. Mask design and laser lithography. Magnetic characterizations (vibrating sample magnetometry)Noise and automated magnetotransport characterizations.Etching of patterned cavities on silicon substrates with KOH wet etch. -
Research Assistant In BiosensorsTecnológico De Costa Rica Aug 2015 - Jul 2018School Of Chemistry, Nes ProjectWorked in design, modeling, fabrication and analysis of evaporated thin film electrodes coated with conductive polymers for cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Measured and compared device performances. Built microfluidic devices for EIS with microflow techniques. -
Regular AssistantTecnológico De Costa Rica Feb 2015 - Nov 2015Nanotechnology LabCollaborated with researchers and students in sampling, synthesis of nanomaterials and characterization with SEM and EDS. Learned basics of safety, handling of hazardous chemicals and nanotechnological procedures. -
Undergraduate Research InternUniversity Of California, Riverside Nov 2015 - Jan 2016Bourns College Of Engineering, Chemical And Environmental Engineering DepartmentWorked on the development of a photoanode for a hybrid dye-sensitized solar cell composed by CVD-fabricated graphene monolayers, a ZnO-nanoparticles thin film and N3 Ru-based dye. Raman, UV-vis spectroscopies as well as XRD, AFM and SEM techniques were employed to characterize materials. Electrochemical characterization techniques (EIS, cyclic voltammetry, open circuit voltage decay) were used to test solar cell performance under simulated sun-light conditions. -
