• Hold client meetings to determine design needs, wants, safety requirements and to understand space and building conditions.• Develop schematic and conceptual design using Auto CAD, Adobe Suites, Sketch-Up, MS Office and other graphic tools to deliver design ideas effectively and to help clients visualize design concepts better.• Check and interpret interior-related local regulations, codes and reports such as OBC, Ontario Accessible Design Guidelines, OFC, NKBA, ADA etc.• Understand other construction drawings such as Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Fire Protection, Structural, Landscape, Survey drawings etc.• Consult clients on detailed layouts, colours, finishing materials, hardware, interior and exterior lighting, furniture, fixtures, appliances, accessories and other decorative items with an understanding of design principles as well as expertise in colours, composition, characters of each material, human bodies and human behaviours.• Create construction drawing sets including plans, elevations, sections, detailed drawings, and schedules in accordance with current practices and codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports.• Communicate with professionals from other fields to ensure the feasibility of the interior design being developed and to bring the best design within given site conditions.• Prepare ID drawing sets for permits and prepare contract and bidding documents.• Source materials, hardware, furniture, fixtures, Appliances, Equipment and accessories locally and internationally.• Review shop drawings.• Site walk to ensure every item to be built as per drawings and coordinate with on-site crews and subcontractors.• Prepare As-Built Interior Design drawing sets with specifications and schedules for clients record.
