Raised in an industrialist family, Jitender Makkar was exposed to the many facets of business development through his family’s business that started in poultry farming, rice mills and timber merchandising and then expanded into stainless steel sheets and steel utensils.His vision for seeing the hidden potential in declining assets and their relationship to the urban environment was further formed out of his training as an architect and an urbanist when, during his undergraduate years, he put his ideas to work in developing an urban reactivation project in Alleppey, Kerala and other urban projects.Additional early experience in building construction and design working out of New Delhi, enabled him to perfect his skill set for applying a unique combination of strategic planning, economic intervention and urban revitalization with architectural design and a re-conceptualization of mixed-use development.Jitender’s specialization in concept land development and transformational real estate projects realized significant success during his years in the San Francisco Bay Area where, as a master planner, he created several mixed-use communities and was recognized as a pioneer in new approaches to the complexities of subdivisions and zoning approvals. Additional ventures into textiles, trenchless cable technologies and infrastructure networking enabled him to mature the platform of capabilities and resources that have now become the foundation that enables the growth of IndusPAD.With the recent purchase and redevelopment of the historic former site of Malden Mills/Polartec in the heart of the Merrimack Valley, Jitender is re-conceptualizing a legacy asset to serve a new generation of manufacturing and smart economy innovators.This is where he brings together the vision of IndusPAD - a 600,000 SF facility with class A manufacturing infrastructure to be the WeWork of innovation in manufacturing. His vision is strengthened by tenant CEOs who collaboratively work under one roof to solve each other's problems and bring together leadership and employment in the region. He recognized the growing need for E-Commerce Fulfillment & 3PL Warehouse services and as such, have recently added this capability as part of the IndusPAD and introduce XoLogistic.
