About Jitendra Kumar Meena

I am an RNA and ribonucleotide metabolism researcher studying the regulation of RNA and ribonucleotide homeostasis within mammalian systems. My expertise are in developing technologies for studying RNA degradation and ribonucleotide catabolism. My research goal is to develop strategies for targeting transcriptional hyperactivation in human malignancies. In my original research at Baylor College of Medicine, I discovered a new type of oncogenic stress in MYC-hyperactivated cancer in the form of enhanced RNA degradation and exacerbated ribonucleotide catabolism. Through these discoveries, I discovered a new mechanism by which MYC induces ROS (reactive oxygen species) and found how this weakness of MYC-high cancer can be exploited. In my future research, I want to investigate how MYC-high aggressive and resilient cancer that are driven by transcriptional hyperactivation can be therapeutically targeted.
