Somalia

• Responsible for the strategic development and management of development and humanitarian programmes in line with HPA’s international and national mandate and strategic guidance. • Developed country strategic plan, operational plans and annual budget in aligned to HPA’s national priorities. • Providing leadership and guidance to senior managers and technical advisors to achieve project outcomes in most efficient manner within the allocated costs and time. • Providing overall management of DFID, EC, UNICEF, UNFPA, WFP supported health, nutrition and SGBV/FGM projects while ensuring optimum utilization of financial, staff and assets.• Secured funding from DFID, UNICEF and WFP to support development and humanitarian interventions in Somaliland exceeding 2 million dollars in the last 12 months. • Represented HPA at donor, national government and DFID/PSI NGO consortium, Save the Children led Consortium, UN-led Health and Nutrition clusters, National Development Plans and contributed to development of donor and government programme and resource priorities. • Maintains good internal communications for program and financial decision-making as well as policies both with the Head of Africa Programmes, regional team and London-based HQ staff. • Ensures compliance of operations, donor reports, audits, risk audit, anti-corruption measures, etc. • Developed Country Security and Safety manual and operational plans and mainstreamed in all programmes, general operations and administration. • Built leadership skills of country level SMT members to be effective in responding organizational needs and priorities as well as be effective in decision-making. • Conduct regular financial and programme reviews and guide project implementations including adaptation of conflict sensitive programming approaches.

Liberia

Worked with the local government and civil societies to support the strengthening of county mechanisms for gender mainstreaming and implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on women, peace and security (1325), with particular emphasis on advocacy and support to combat SGBV. This included enhancing county coordination in the prosecution, reporting and trend analysis of SGBV. Advocated for and supported existing and emerging community priorities to foster socioeconomic cohesion and recovery in close coordination with the UNCT, including strengthening response strategies for disaster risk reduction and conflict prevention, particularly in border areas. Further, built institutional capacity and service delivery of the de-concentrated local government, including national security agencies, as well as supported and monitor the acceleration of the de-concentration and decentralization processes. Provided technical support to the Government’s de-concentration, decentralization and security transition communications strategy by monitoring community outreach activities, promoting inclusive participation of local communities using local mechanisms and UNMIL media. My role also involved advocate for and support national reconciliation mechanisms, including Local Peace Committees and Alternative Dispute Resolution for land issues/disputes through the county-level structures.

Bangalore

My work with Institute of Public Health (IPH) contributed to IPH's decision making process and as a part of the directorate, I provided technical and managerial support as a team lead to ensure effective HR, Finance, Administration functions are in place. Supported the project team leaders in management of grants and projects including donor relation and resource mobilization. I coordinated an International Colloquium on Strengthening Health Systems in Asia in collaboration and support of Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Antwerp.

India

I had opportunity of working as a freelance consult with The Leprosy Mission Trust India as a capacity building lead; conducted situation analysis and project development for and fund raising for Progressio UK in Yemen. As a consultant, I supported CANA (Christian AIDS/HIV National Alliance) New Delhi India in reviewing and preparing National HIV and AIDS Policy and Plans.

Yemen And Somalia

As a Programme Development and Funding Officer for Progressio UK, I was instrumental in mobilizing resources for Somaliland and Yemen programmes, establishing monitoring and evaluation framework, coordination with country representatives of Yemen and Somaliland in project implementation, financial monitoring and reporting, and recruit as well as well orient development workers for both the country projects.

In the capacity of programme management specialist, I planned, implemented and strengthened organizational and technical capacity of Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development in HIV and AIDS programming and mainstreaming in all development programmes. It also involved mentoring of staff, monitoring and reporting activities and representation at differernet technical fora within the ministry and development partners.

Plan International (India) National Health Strategy development.Facilitated technical support to partner NGOs to ensure Plan supported programs are aligned with its approach and of high quality.Developed concept notes, proposals and technical papers related to Health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and nutrition interventions with Plan & partner teams to disseminate practice and generate greater scale and resources.Supported Plan’s capacity to respond effectively to child protection issues which impact on a child’s health and well-being.

Coordination and management of sustainable co-financed, co-managed health initiatives - sexual and reproductive health, child & neo-natal health & nutrition, control of communicable diseases and HIV and AIDS programming.Support in strengthening institutional capacity of Ministry of Health (MoH), Regional Health Centres in the planning, implementation and management of primary health care activities in emergency settings.Capacity building of health centres in centre management.

Orissa, India

Provide technical support to and capacity building of the Departments of Health & Family Welfare, and Women & Child Development in the reduction of Child & Neonatal Mortality and improve maternal health at the district levels.Support in the development of multi-sectoral plans, programmes to initiate govt. & non government responses in the reduction of maternal & child mortality at the district and sub- district levels.
