TITLE: Identification of Industrial Energy Efficiency Best Practices in Small and Medium-sized EnterprisesThe thesis stems from the collaboration of Sapienza University and ENEA, developed on EU project "GEAR@SME" funded by HORIZON 2020.Responsibilities:Identification of Energy Efficiency Measures for FDM (Food, Drink & Milk) sector. (General and Process Specific Measures)The identification of existing energy efficiency measures (EEMs) from available known sources for including in the database of EEMs developing as part of "GEAR@SME".Development of a Solar Tool algorithm for a grid connected roof top PV system to help Small &MediumEnterprises to estimate Photovoltaic potential, Economics, Savings and Key Performance Indicators.As a general measure be applied without altering or disturbing the industrial working, solar PV systems has a wide range acceptance. The algorithm is developed on Python, which takes minimum inputs from user which includes location, annual electricity usage and roof area available. The calculations are performed, and results are generated for different percentage of roof coverage, i.e., 10 % to 100% coverage of available roof surface area. According to the user inputs the tool estimates the annual solar energy available, the energy available for self-consumption, making use the rest of energy for Net-Metering (Scambio sul posto) and Feed-In. The savings are calculated according to national tariff available in Italy and further the "Payback period" along with financial indicators "Net Present Value" (NPV) & "Internal Rate of Return" (IRR) is calculated for determining project feasibility.Analysis of different input parameters for finding the effects on key results and validation of tool with real time data.The analysis is done for four different parameters:• The operating pattern of the company, the orientation and tilt of roof surface, the reference days took for finding self-consumption percentage, the demand data availability.
