Specific achievements include:•Reduction in SG&A expenses by 13% achieved via organizational restructuring, transition of transactional activities to shared services, and economizing in the areas of purchasing, marketing, travel, freight etc. •Improved the internal customer experience by redesigning the financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting processes;•Strengthened the control environment by addressing several audit issues and implementation of key accounting policies and procedures;•Launched a new business strategy expected to grow the business significantly over the next five years.

Responsible for accentuating the significance of improving working capital and cash flow for MSM, a business division representing 50% and 75% of total PBI revenues and profit respectively. Responsibilities included focusing on significant balance sheet items such as Accounts Receivables ($250M) and Inventory ($225M). Key achievements included:•3% reduction in AR over 60 days by creating a dashboard to monitor effectiveness of various collection channels, enhanced focus on portfolio reviews, increased leverage of shared services and standardization of collection and write-off policies. •10% reduction in gross inventory by identification and write-off of obsolete inventory, consolidation of physical inventory locations, standardization of inventory policies, implementation of life cycle planning and reverse logistics. •Implementation of cash flow statements for individual business units.

Lead the company-wide Sarbanes Oxley Program Management Office (PMO). Scope included overseeing SOX compliance efforts at 48 world-wide locations with 180 processes and over 1,300 key controls. Also responsible for managing the Corporate Financial Policies including accounting, treasury and SOX related policies. Notable achievements included:•Unqualified opinions on financial controls and overall reduction in SOX deficiencies•10% reduction in the cost of SOX compliance by implementing a pragmatic and risk-based approach to testing and rationalization of key controls. . •Issuance of key policies such as software revenue recognition, accounting for income taxes (SFAS 109, FIN48), accounting for stock based compensation (FAS123R), accounting for software to be sold or leased etc. •Establishing a formal process for responding to technical accounting questions. •Review and sign-offs of 10K’s/10Q’s and other SEC requirements. •Implementation of a finance global training program to address complex accounting topics and improvement in key controls.•Six Sigma Green Belt project to improve the inter-company transaction and reconciliation process. •Preparation of independent financial statements to support the potential sale of a $1 billion business unit.

-Responsibility included managing internal audits conducted in North America (covering a universe of approximately 125 audits) including company-wide risk assessments and development of annual audit plans. Key achievements included:•Three promotions in four years by demonstrating the ability to raise pertinent issues in complex areas and increasing managerial and communication skills.•Lead a team of 10-12 audit professionals for an entire year in the absence of other managers •Played a vital role in improving the quality of the audit function and obtaining a best in class rating from the Institute of Internal Auditors. •Received awards from the General Auditor in 2002 and from the Chairman and CEO in 2004 for significant contributions as an auditor.

Recruited in India and transferred to Syntel’s US world headquarters to streamline and offshore the finance function. Responsibilities included oversight and documentation of key finance and accounting activities and process improvements. Syntel had approximately 500 clients, including numerous blue chip companies with annual revenues of $200 million. Key achievements included successful knowledge transfer of key financial processes and effectively managing and retaining a staff of five employees until the transition was complete.

Lead a team of 10-12 senior auditors providing business advisory services to Unilever India, the country’s largest consumer goods company. Performed extensive financial, operational and IT internal control reviews across several Unilever’s divisions including manufacturing locations, branches and corporate offices. Obtained additional business for PwC by maintaining high standards of business advisory services.
