Digital Technology develops Nielsen’s global Digital products: Digital Ad Ratings, Total Ad Ratings, Digital Content Ratings, and Total Content Ratings. These products are used to provide media publishers, ad tech platforms, and advertisers with an understanding of where to market their products and how their existing marketing efforts are performing. These products are available in 27 countries and leveraged by the largest companies in Digital-Lead multiple teams totaling 16 employees and 20+ contractors across two different areas: Site Reliability Engineering and client-facing Reporting applications for Nielsen’s Digital Measurement Products--Total responsibilities cover a budget of $3.5mm in labor and $1m in Cloud spend--Manage global Reporting applications including feature delivery, daily delivery, maintenance, and support--Engage with clients, sales and product management to identify and design product enhancements to improve client satisfaction and revenue--Leading the design and development of 3 new cloud-native Reporting applications which will increase quality and up-time, improve user experience, decrease architectural risk, and increase velocity for Product development. These applications are based on React, Java, Presto, Kubernetes and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).--Manage the development of Nielsen’s Reporting Platform which will provide a foundation for all future Reporting applications to be built on thus reducing cost, improving user experience and accelerating product development

Leading the Digital Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) which is responsible for providing cloud infrastructure for hosting the Digital products and tooling to enable development teams to develop products faster, with greater quality and less cost-Built the Site Reliability Engineering team from scratch including gaining alignment from the senior leadership team, staffing the team, defining the team charter, and setting strategy-Define the Product Strategy & Vision, prioritize and publish roadmaps, and communicate these to all stakeholders-Develop personas for consuming teams, conduct discovery on product and service enhancements to meet explicit requirements and latent needs-Grew SRE tenants from zero to 20+ ranging from Java application to Spark big data processing workloads. -Developed services for: Compute-as-a-Service (via Kubernetes), Metrics (Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana), Logging (ELK, FluentD, Sentry), CI/CD, and Security tools

Computer Vision, Engineering R&D -Responsible for researching and developing Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning solutions for image and object recognition, classification, captioning and detection. -Led a cross-functional team responsible for developing business cases to use Computer Vision to decrease cycle time, improve quality and reduce cost-Primary Media Technology leader responsible for executing on internal research projects and prototypes, vendor selection, external partnerships and M&A due diligence. -Developed prototypes for objection detection and classification to determine brand and product placement. Prototypes were developed using Deep Learning, Tensorflow, Keras, Caffe and GPUs (CUDA)-Built a holistic web application, including classification algorithms, which streamlined and automated the process of receipt classification and was projected to save $1.8m a year globally-Responsible for assessing image recognition companies which were potential acquisition targets which led to two companies being acquired by Nielsen.
