I am leading an initiative aiming to strengthen the role of women in the Czech media and increase their representation in positions where the media agenda is set. Did you know there's no female editor-in-chief among top Czech media, compared to 35% in the UK and 44% in the US? Although women journalists predominate in the age group under 30, they either leave their jobs after 30 or continue to work in newsrooms as ordinary journalists without reaching senior positions. Women are also underrepresented in media councils, which are supposed to exercise the public's right to control the public media. Let's face it, the lack of women in influential media positions means that issues such as the pay gap or maternity leave challenges are not getting the attention and coverage they deserve. But we have studied inspirations from abroad, discussed the topic with experts (including men), and are convinced that the situation can be changed. So let's get inspired by the BBC's claim, "We're committed to creating an organization that reflects more accurately the society we serve"!

The Media Pluralism Monitor maps the threats to media pluralism and media freedom in EU member states. It provides data for the EU policymaking on media and serves as a key source of information for the annual Rule of Law Report issued by the EU Commission.

As a media analyst of the OSCE ODIHR election expert mission to Slovakia, I assessed the media performance during the election process evaluating whether public and private media gave voters an adequate chance to make informed choices. I also analysed the extent to which parties and candidates have equal access to the media under international standards and commitments.

As a media analyst of the OSCE ODIHR election assessment mission to Latvia, I assessed the media performance during the election process. I mainly evaluated whether public and private media gave voters an adequate chance to make informed choices. This part of my job was quite challenging in a linguistically divided country where all Russian language information sources (which were deemed to disseminate false information and constitute a threat to national security) were recently suspended. I also analysed the extent to which parties and candidates have equal access to the media under international standards and commitments.

I prepared inputs into USAID strategic planning to reengage in the Czech Republic. My assessment defined the core democracy, human rights, and governance problems and identified actors and institutions that support or resist reforms. The strategy development resulted in programmatic recommendations with focus on media, CSOs, and rule of law. I worked within large international team covering Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Slovenia.
