As Samsung Mobile expanded into the e-Commerce market, I took on the role of Product Manager in a new field of fintech with Samsung Pay. In this position, I collaborated with multinational Samsung subsidiaries and local companies to develop a comprehensive global road map for the Samsung Pay ecosystem across both mobile and web platforms. While maintaining a global perspective, I carefully considered each country's unique financial networks and environments in collaboration with internal task forces at Samsung HQ.While my team was responsible for building relationships with key players such as payment networks and banks like Visa, MasterCard, Citi, I served as the relationship manager for global payment gateway providers, including Stripe, Adyen, and WorldPay, along with 3DS providers. I also drafted the global business contract between Samsung HQ and gateway companies, beginning with Stripe. These strategies and processes ultimately led to the formation of a new team within Samsung: the Samsung Pay Global Acceptance Team.

As a project manager, I worked on various projects, including:1. Stabilizing Samsung flagship model system layer software with Chinesechipset companies, including Spreadtrum and Marvell.2. Leading the software certification process mandated by the Chinesegovernment and major carriers like CMCC and CU.3. Developing software apps and features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.During my time as a project manager, I frequently worked in China with local chipset companies. Leveraging my language and interpersonal communication skills, I reduced the overall solution development time from 2-3 months to 3-4 weeks.I also oversaw key quality testing processes for Chinese carriers, which were critical components of the certification process in the Chinese market. In early 2014, I became the lead project manager for the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) test certification of China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), the largest network carrier in China, for Samsung Mobile. My team quickly identified multiple failure points in the testing environment and implemented system-wide improvements, enhancing the bug reporting process and communication with CMCC, which significantly streamlined project pipelines. I provided strong technical presentations throughout the process.After completing the MTBF improvements, I transitioned into a lead role for application and tool development, collaborating with cross-functional teams, Chinese content provider companies, and government agencies for the Samsung Galaxy S6 launch. Initially tasked with developing low-end feature phones for the Chinese market, I reduced the production defect rate, saving approximately $600,000 in the mass production of the GT-E1228 feature phone byimproving an error correction algorithm.I transitioned to Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagship model development team as a system engineer. I developed (1) boot-up programs according to a chip-set solution (2) critical development debugging tools which enabled developers to monitor Android system layer activities in real time (3) Physical/virtual memory space optimization. I was involved in developing more than 50+ models a year which used various chip-set company hardwares. During this time, I collaborated closely with global and Chinese chip-set design partners, including Qualcomm, Spreadtrum, and Marvell.A fast-paced development and production environment, where Samsung annually produced over 100 models for the Chinese market, imposed a unique challenge. My responsibility was to ensure the stability of system level software for both consumers and carriers, manage pre- and post- launch software quality control processes, and continuously improve production line faults over time. I proposed and implemented a new NV file backup system for 10+ Spreadtrum chip-set models, which completely prevented the system from locking up and running into infinite loops—issues that only occurred during the mass production phase. I also stabilized the IMEI writing process, eliminating the need to stop production and test entire batches of phones due to faults found in one out of every 1,000-2,000 units.
