Jixin Jia is a visual artist based in Chicago. Jia's work is cross-cultural, intimate, and often humorous. His short films have been shown in the Tri-Co Film Festival and Cantor Fitzgeral Gallery. Jia was a programmer for the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. He also served as a Policy and Program Advisor on the Steering Committee of the Hurford Center for Arts and Humanities at Haverford College. His most recent film project is a whimsical and visceral docu-fiction about the Chinese diaspora titled “Slow Boats to China.” Jia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College, where he double majored in Sociology and Anthropology and minored in Visual Studies. Jia is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Cinema & Media Studies and Art History at the University of Chicago.
