My position as the Undergraduate Therapies Assistant at Discovery Therapeutic Services requires me to analyse and compile data from SALT screens, casework and research articles in addition to supporting the preparation of and contributing to different training opportunities. I contribute to developing resource packs and tools used during interventions or to support schools in implementing SALT recommendations. I also collaborate on creating assessment tools and diagnostic support, thus improving my analytical and interpersonal skills.I support the SALTs and SLTAs in scoring different assessment tools, school tasks or child-centred interventions, compiling SALT screens, circulating materials, and updating the pupil information database. These assignments help me improve my time management abilities, knowledge of the value of confidentiality and safeguarding, and experience dealing with families and children.Additionally, I create information packs educating families and schools about various SLCNs and support strategies in school and at home through videos and other materials, contributing to the development of a centrally held resource bank. Through my assignments, I enhance my IT skills and ability to produce high-quality written documents.
