Touch, Itch and pain are main areas I am actually interested in. The main approaches I use are animal models, electrophysiological recording, calcium imaging and molecular biology.The itch research is a new topic that I develop in the lab; the aim is to understand the molecular mechanism underlying the chronic itch which is a common symptom in a great number of diseases including atopic dermatitis, allergy, renal and liver diseases. Identification of key components in itch processing will provide new targets for itch treating agent. Regarding touch study, I am looking for blockers or modulators of touch/mechanosensitive channels, especially TRPA1 and Piezo channels. Concerning pain research, I try to figure out the function of ion channels and receptors in pain processing.

For the postdoctoral training, I put on one side the research in mammals, and went to MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, one of the world's leading research institutes in molecular biology. I continued the work on mechanosensitive channels, but used a much simpler model, C.elegans. This enriched training allowed me to acquire a solid base in Molecular biology.
