I've spent the last half-decade working on Pulse, A cloud-based software solution for centralized and collaborative content management, storage and delivery from anywhere in the world. We've been "The heart of the production pipeline" for over a hundred shows, including episodic and features.Our team built the award-winning Technicolor Pulse Platform in AWS, I moved it first to an on-prem private cloud (which I also built) and then to its present home in Microsoft Azure. I’m leading on Devops and also performing as a Cloud solutions architect (even though it’s not in my job title). Plenty of Terraform, ARM templates, puppet, Jenkins, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB. And interfacing with the wonderful Microsoft Azure peeps, of course.Pulse manages tens of petabytes of client content across GPFS, CVFS, Blob and Bucket storage world-wide. Building Pulse has been an exercise in the hybrid cloud model, managing and moving petabytes of data among multiple world-wide on-prem and cloud regions. I've been building new ways to build and deploy our cross-environment apps in hybrid-cloud environments, and new techniques to join far-flung regions of the cloud. I partner with the Dev teams to design and build the environments they need to develop, and Ops needs to deliver, top-notch services to our customers. I also oversee our CI and software deployment operations, from building Java projects, sheperding new product through QA and integration testing, the final go/no-go decision to deploy to production, and the production deploy itself.Lots of Jboss, lots of Hudson/Jenkins, lots of Maven. I have more than 18 years experience designing, building and maintaining Web servers, setting up VPNs, configuring firewalls and routers, setting up network infrastructure and other projects for high-traffic, high-profile sites. Provide support and guidance in the development, integration and release process in a manner fully informed by the wants, needs, and personal style of the development teams, as well as the needs of management.Clients past and present include U.S. Suzuki Auto and Marine, Comic Book Resources, Comic-Con International, ad.ly and looksy.com, and King World Productions, Inc./CBS Television Distribution.Some cool things I've done:Built the first Linux server for U.S. Suzuki Auto and Marine 15 years ago, and have specified, managed and installed all of their Web servers to the present day. Servers located in Herndon, Virginia and Los Angeles with traffic distributed to both of them with automated fail over in case of outage. Traffic in the millions of page views per month. Serves leads management and delivery system. Successfully transitioned the legacy HW to a private cloud built on OpenVZ.Created an Amazon AWS based infrastructure from the ground up for an E-Commerce service, then tore it down and completely rebuilt it under a separate Amazon account.Designed and built an intercontinental VOIP call center for Nature's Health Supply. Call center is managed from the United States with agents in Colombia and other countries in Central and South America. Was built using Asterisk with custom AGI programming.Run an email server hosting 25,000 email addresses. Specialize in hosting email for auto dealers. Services include extracting data from emails, converting them to XML and shooting them off to CRM vendors.

Designed and programmed interactive game server software for the video game industry. Built and managed online video game servers. Managed projects and development teams building pioneering online interactive technologies.

I was there at the birth of The Bubble. SoftAware was one of those ISPs that was started in a closet, and ended as a multi-million dollar buyout. Those times were everything you've heard... I built and ran high-volume web servers for movie companies, pornographers, and banner ad networks. And some good honest people, too.

At Tri-Digital, I was contracted to the old Pacific Bell. We built systems that brought automation capabilities to their legacy mainframe-based testing services. I also created a system to allow PacBell staff remote access to testing tools over the internet, encrypted, over a cell-phone data link with a laptop computer.

My first foray into embedded computing. I wrote software that turned a mild-mannered printing terminal into an credit-retrieval system.While at ER I also designed and programmed an automated credit retrieval system based on an 80286 board. The system featured a roll-my-own RTOS and remotely upgradable firmware.

Fully Responsible for the conversion of DEC based software packages to Unix based microcomputer systems. Also converted PDP-11 DIBOL software to VAX/VMS. Developed a suite of system tools to support our development efforts. As the Systems Administrator, I was responsible for hardware and software maintenance as well as the day-to-day operation of several Unix systems ranging from Altos supermicros to Perkin-Elmer superminis.
