Jan 2024 - Present

Digital Workplace Consultant

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I acted as the business analyst on intranet implementation and migration projects for Habanero's GO intranet built on Microsoft SharePoint. I championed an empathetic consulting approach where client collaboration is valued and a sense of ownership is created. From project kickoff, I showcased the product to client project teams to help set the stage for the work ahead. I conducted interviews with end users and senior stakeholders, synthesized the findings through qualitative analysis/grounded theory, and presented the identified problems and solutions to clients. I scheduled and ran the requirements gathering phase of projects, eliciting business needs, and liaising with internal designers and developers to find tailored solutions, with some features I requested being permanently added to the product. I provided guidance on future intranet governance for long-term success and UAT preparation, after which I collaborated with the development team to address the changes and fixes to the solution. Before handoff to the support team, I customized and delivered product training to client admin/super users, content authors, and the brand team, if applicable. Even after the project delivery, I worked with clients on any additional work or change requests and to provide additional context to the ongoing support team.I've also created demo intranets and proof-of-concepts for the Clearbox intranet review and for potential new clients with the sales team. Other fun things I accomplished include developing a new rhythm for requirements gathering sessions, reusable training documentation templates, advocating for a rethinking of how Azure DevOps and scrum methodology are used for project delivery, and retooling stakeholder workshops to maximize buy-in and engagement.

Sep 2015 - Oct 2021

General Instructor

Through both self-designed courses and pre-existing course modules, I taught different iterations of Introduction to Academic Writing both in-person and online. My teaching philosophy is to be encouraging, respectful, and realistic: Encouraging - I always want my students to do well, but students don't always start at the same level. It's my job to give them the support they need to learn from their mistakes and improve.Respectful - I treat my class as people first. I treat each student as a human being with the capacity to learn. Not knowing something or being inexperienced doesn't mean you have to talk down at them. If they knew it already, why would they be in the class? Realistic - Some people take the course because they need the credits, it's a prerequisite, etc... and that's ok! Not every class has to be Dead Poets Society! Every student has different goals and we instructors need to be accepting of that.I employed a wide variety of individual, small, and large group exercises to build student capacity for both written and oral delivery of polished ideas. I set my expectations and goals for the course clearly and gave prompt, accurate, and actionable feedback on all assignments.

Mitacs Accelerate - Td Bank - Ux And Gamification Research

After successfully winning grant funding, I ran a qualitative UX study on improving personal credit spending through combining gamification and knowledge translation on online banking platforms. I prototyped four testing conditions and using UserTesting and Qualtrics, interviewed participants walking through the models. I analyzed the qualitative data through Dovetail and synthesized over 900 insights. I packaged and presented the results as recommendations to the client.
