Control programming for vacuum forming packaging machines. Controls platform is based on Rockwell Automation controls (ControlLogix, GuardLogix, Kinetics 6000 Motion and Ethernet with HMI interface.

Oversaw the drives for the paper machines for four paper mills. Involved in recommending and sizing new motors and drives for upgrading to the latest technology. The new drives were AC variable frequency with liquid cooling (PowerFlex 700L with 700S control). They were networked through Ethernet. Rockwell ControlLogix replaced the older Reliance Automax Master.Some drives remained DC with Rockwell’s SD3000 Plus Regulator and Module.Assisted the mills with troubleshooting drive problems, at the mill or over the phone.• Developed a PowerFlex© AC drives training program, which resulted in increasing the competency of the mill shift electricians, enabling them to effectively troubleshoot and service the new drives.• Upgraded the drives on a paper machine to AC variable frequency, resulting in better run ability, reliability and efficiency.

Developed and presented training courses in AC and DC drives for Rockwell field service engineers and for customer electrical maintenance departments. Courses consisted of product, hands-on, and troubleshooting techniques. Subject matter expert on drive installations and applications for engineering departments and customers.Developed the PowerFlex© High Power AC drives training program, which resulted in increasing the competency of the field engineers worldwide, enabling them to effectively commission, troubleshoot and service the new drives.Trained customer electrical maintenance personnel on AC and DC drives, which enabled them to become self sufficient in troubleshooting and servicing the drives in their plants.Demonstrated proper use of test equipment to analyze a drive installation at a customer's plant, resulting in a standardized solution to prevent high horsepower motors from being destroyed.Selected as a subject matter expert for a key customer in Venezuela to increase the competency of the engineers and technicians on High Power AC drives. This resulted in the reduction of drive failures and simplified the enclosure designs, thus decreasing costs.

Commissioned and serviced control systems of paper machines, winders and reels at paper mills. Developed and presented training programs on paper machine and winder controls to mill personnel.Trained mill maintenance personnel, resulting in them being able to establish a preventative maintenance program for their machines.Selected as the subject matter expert to assist a drive field engineer with fine tuning a winder drive, resulting in achieving full control of winding a finished roll to the final diameter exceeding the specifications and increasing efficiency.Managed the installation of a paper machine reel automated control system, resulting in increasing production and improving product quality.

Performed needs-analysis, designed appropriate training programs covering process, hydraulics, electrical controls, instrumentation, and drives. Training was performed on site.Lead intercultural training project in England. By utilizing interactive processes, the result established a cohesive group of contributors.

Performed control system service, troubleshooting, and assisted drive suppliers in problem analysis on different sections of the paper machine.Improved fan pump drive control by implementing an innovative solution that reduced machine variations, resulting in improving the quality of paper.

Analyzed service needs and scheduled service for full paper machine maintenance. Prepared capital expenditure requests for projects and equipment. Controls/Drives/Vacuum Systems; Managed engineers and designers who prepared control, drive and vacuum systems proposals for paper machine projects. Engineers assisted in commissioning the machines when the proposals became orders.Implemented an innovative drive control solution for multi-layer head boxes. Managed, hired, developed staff engineers and technicians who performed check out and start up of diaper machines, maintained production performance, and implemented new projects. Implemented an innovative solution for palletizing machines, resulting in improved efficiency.Developed training program for the maintenance personnel to familiarize them with power, motors, industrial controls and PLCs, resulting in them becoming proficient in troubleshooting and preventative maintenance improving machine performance.Instituted preventative maintenance program that utilized IR imaging equipment, resulting in detecting non-visible problems that could cause harm to workers, cause fires, equipment failure and power disruption.

Designed, installed and commissioned equipment for new or improved manufacturing processes.Designed new cooling tunnel control for column candle production, resulting in an increase in production, reduced waste, lower energy usage and lower production cost.Implemented online printing process for candle wrapping line. This resulted in cost reduction of inventory for supplies.
