Hunter Army Airfield And Bagram Afghanistan

Communications manager for the 603rd Aviation Support Battalion. Responsible for planning, managing, and executing all communications support to include Management Information Systems, Tactical Radio Systems (FM, UHF, VHF, HF, TACSAT), BFT Command Post Network, Secure and Non-Secure Internet Protocol networks, Global Broadcast Suite, and COMSEC management. Provided training within the unit as well as to upper echelons. Managed a six personnel Help Desk to ensure customers had reliable communications. Information Assurance Security Officer responsible for ensuring information security risk mitigation and all patching performed in compliance with NOC procedures for 257 clients.While deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan was assigned as the Team Lead for the communications infrastructure design and implementation for the new Combat Aviation Brigade compound, responsibilities included coordination with Army Corp of Engineers, Air Force contracting, local NOC, and miscellaneous contractors. Instructed 25 personnel in ISP/OSP installation to include communication closet build outs and fiber optic termination practices. The project was spread across four square miles and included 27 new structures as well as 4 hangars.

Network Operations Center, Fort Wainwright, Ak

Duties included the monitoring of network performance for the Non-secure Internet Protocol (NIPR) and the Secure Internet Protocol (SIPR) networks spread across 145 buildings, network security analysis, routing table reviews, SAN fabric switching traffic, VLAN configuration, cluster virtualization performance and implementation, monitoring of storage cluster performance and tuning. Monitored and re-engineered facility power, HVAC, and UPS utilization for DISA NIPR, SIPR, CENTRX POP preparation. Through collaboration with EMC and Brocade we developed a storage migration implementation that totaled 500TB of storage across two networks utilizing a mesh topology. Led the planning, development and installation of the facility upgrades, added 25 server floor racks, 3 PDU’s, 870TB of SAN storage, 2 network Domain controllers and Exchange servers. Developed and managed the network upgrade for Fort Wainwright to include a 10G fiber backbone with 4 Area Distribution Nodes (ADNs). Coordinated network migration/cutover of new hospital on site; completed in under 24hrs and 32 days ahead of schedule. Development team member for the Pacific COOP project which included 8 different Army bases spread throughout the Pacific. Communicated operational requirements to senior management through email and briefings, consistently met the deadlines set by management. Implemented and performed server consolidation for Sharepoint, SQL, and other application servers through the use of VmWare virtualization software. Conducted training in Network Administration, Web, Sharepoint, Policy Management, and VmWare for staff and outside agencies.
