James’ role at TaxLab is to educate the tax community about the benefits of using professional tax software and the impacts on in-house tax functions and finance teams. He is in charge of TaxLab’s sales and implementation operations, and leads business development and company growth initiatives.

As an Associate Director in Deloitte’s corporate tax service line James managed a team of tax professionals and provided tax compliance and consulting services to publicly listed and large unlisted corporates. James specialised in international tax, but also led client services in relation to applications and ongoing management of the various Callaghan Innovation options available to innovative growing businesses. James has a personal passion for helping New Zealand companies grow and be successful on the world stage.

Reporting directly to the CFO, James’ role was to plan, lead and manage the global group tax function. He ensured local and offshore financial controllers implemented tax policies and pro-actively identified, reported on and addressed tax risks. He also assisted treasury, accounts payable, and payroll with tax matters.James assisted to establish group entities in multiple jurisdictions including Canada, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Taiwan and Turkey, and advised on the group’s maquiladora manufacturing structure in Mexico.He delivered external tax reporting, and managed external advisors and internal budgets. James represented FPH on the Corporate Taxpayers Group and Business New Zealand's BEPS working group and attended Board meetings when needed.James also led advocacy and management of Government R&D funding including R&D tax credits, technology development grants and R&D growth grants.

James managed tax compliance and consulting affairs for large corporate clients, specialising in international tax for multinationals. He was responsible for leading and managing a corporate tax team with 8 reports and was the Auckland Tax liaison manager with the Deloitte Audit team.
