Jieun explores the psychological impacts of media technologies that elicit users’ attitudinal and behavioral changes. Her major interest is investigating speech interactions considering verbal and nonverbal aspects of computer-mediated communication (CMC) and human-machine communication (HMC). She has extensive experience in developing and designing virtual agents that can facilitate individual or group interactions across platforms (e.g., smart speakers, VR, online games, video-conferencing tools, and mobile applications). Her broader interests lie in examining the persuasive effects of AI agents to be applied in practical domains, such as healthcare, education, and collaborative teamwork.
