I assisted two university faculty members in conducting their respective University Connections courses for more than 60 students. During the two-week course, I also helped the faculty in presenting the students with information pertinent to their college education. As a peer, I connected with each student and addressed their concerns. As part of the service-learning project, I coordinated the students efforts in creating over 50 hygiene kits for a Salt Lake City woman's shelter.Through the course of the academic year, I created insightful weekly emails notifying the students of upcoming university events and providing pertinent advise on classes, study habits, and other activities. I also aided as a general support for the students by connecting them with appropriate university resources as needed.

As a member of the A-Team, I participated in a weekly training course in the policies and procedures for Utah State University (USU) relating to graduation requirements, new student registration, and various related university functions. The training course lasted from January through April. During each SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) session held from May to August, I:-skillfully led a 75-minute small-group discussion educating new students about USU policies and procedures,-thoroughly educated prospective chemistry and biochemistry students in graduation requirements for their intended major,-patiently aided these students in registering for their first semester of courses,-and cheerfully answered all questions and concerns presented by new students or their parents.

Assisted in conducting necropsies, assays, DNA and RNA extractions, bacterial transformations, and other tests to explore the nature of West Nile Virus, Hepatitis B Virus, and other encepahlitis-inducing viruses.The biochemistry assays I performed included Micro-ALT and ELISAs for specific Hepatitis B antigens (Hbs Ag & Hbe Ag). I also was trained for and performed MUNE (motor unit number estimation).

I led the training of eight tutors in challenging students at Wilson Elementary School to improve their math and reading skills. I also participated in tutoring students during the school day and the After School Club (ASC) program managed by staff of Logan City. As a Site Coordinator, I:-led weekly training meetings for tutors,-collaborated with the ASC site manager in overseeing the homework section of ASC, -and coordinated student progress with Wilson Elementary's literacy specialist. Most importantly I mastered the art of evading student-hurled dodge balls during the ASC program's recreation time.
