As Director, Innovation & Technology, I was responsible for the facilitation of IT planning and strategy, and overall leadership for the Innovation & Technology disciplines within the Company. This included assembling and coaching a highly skilled team of IT Professionals in the areas of IT Operations, Cyber Security, Development and Business Transformation. • Establishing IT strategy and departmental goals in close collaboration with the Senior Management Team and in alignment to company standards. • Leading the IT team to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, coordinating implementation and managing IT systems across the organization. • Developing and maintaining an appropriate IT organization structure that supported the growing needs of the business. • Managing risk by monitoring and implementing security, redundancy, policy and disaster recovery. • Communicating IT direction, challenges, risk, failures, progress and success to the Senior Management Team and Managers. • Identifying opportunities for business improvements using IT systems and services. • Staying current with trends and issues in the IT industry including current technologies and practices. • Ensuring continuous delivery of IT systems and services meeting and exceeding the needs of the organization. • Maintaining internal and external relationships including industry associations, product and service vendors, partners, and others in the industry. • Managing the departmental team in terms of recruitment, development, performance management, and retention • Creating, tracking and controlling the IT annual capital and operational expenditures.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, this highly technical role had me attending to front line IT support, infrastructure, architecting and delivery. This role also included administering a number of oil & gas specific technologies including software packages, SCADA communications and field automation.
