The most challenging aspects of this assignment were to 1) engage appropriate Shell Expro staff; 2) gain management attention and support for project; 3) develop and gain partners acceptance of a Business Plan that outlined all the activities required - including technical, stakeholder and commercial issues; 4) develop a plan to ensure HP/HT technologies would be in place and would be cost effective gain functional support and funding for this development; 5) collaborate with offsetting operator to seek and capture synergies of similar projects in similar time frame; 6) liaise with government agencies (especially the Department of Trade and Industry) to gain support for the ultimate Field Development Plan; 7) secure Shell and partner support to commit to a long term contract for a modified HP/HT drilling rig to be ready in time to begin development drilling soon after project sanction (worked closely with negotiating team and participated in negotiations directly with the rig company); and 8) secure Shell and partner funding for development.
