Lead a team of 20+ software engineers to design, develop, and deliver the software that makes BlackBerry WLAN radio communications not only possible -- but "Enterprise" hardened!Responsibilities include:- Working with Senior Management and Product Management to evaluate and plan chipset selection and software roadmaps.- Working closely with chipset vendors to integrate reference drivers, co-develop new features, productize the solution, and provide on-going in-market support.- Working with Program Management to develop staffing estimates and schedules for all BlackBerry 10 devices + software feature releases.- Team planning, hiring, and on-boarding of new co-op, junior, and senior engineers.- Mentoring engineers into Team Lead or Individual Contributor career paths.- Mentoring and advising developers on 802.11 or Wi-Fi Certification specific protocols and tests.- Provided high-level triage of incoming issues; ensuring efficiencies by validating issues are real and going into the right hands.- Lead in-depth Tiger Team investigations to root cause difficult problems, including:- QNX driver crashes- low throughput and aggregation- SDIO bus communication errors- wired and wireless capture analysis of TCP and UDP-based protocol streaming delays- chipset wakeup errors- high power consumption- SAR transmit power optimizations, including Bluetooth and LTE co-existence- difficult regulatory domain certifications (e.g. Indonesia)- exec-level escalationsOver the past 2 years my team delivered the BlackBerry 10 "Wi-Fi" solution-- and its wide array of features. Lead a team of six software engineers in Agile Scrum format alongside a tester and product owner to develop the BlackBerry MVS handheld client. In collaboration with other scrum teams, our team designed, developed, and shipped the MVS 5.1 solution – with advanced calling features that replaced the corporate desk phone. Key features: MWI, initiation and receipt of calls over both WiFi and Cellular networks, PBX-Initiated versus Handheld DNIS calling, and a patent application for automatically moving calls between networks when signal quality degradation/loss occurred.
