De commissie accreditaties van de RvA bestaat uit vier leden, die door de raad van toezicht worden benoemd. Dat gebeurt op basis van hun deskundigheid op de accreditatiegebieden, hun integriteit en hun onafhankelijkheid. De commissie accreditaties vergadert eens per maand. Zij heeft als taak de raad van bestuur te adviseren over het verlenen van accreditaties. Daarnaast heeft zij de bevoegdheid te adviseren over schorsingen of intrekkingen van accreditaties. De commissie wordt geïnformeerd over de door het bestuur genomen maatregelen en sancties tegen organisaties.The Accreditation Committee consists of four members who are appointed by the Supervisory Board on the basis of their expertise in the field of accreditations, their integrity and their independence. The Accreditation Committee meets once per month. Its task is to advise the Executive Board about the award of accreditations. In addition, it is authorised to provide advice about suspensions or withdrawals of accreditations. The Committee is informed about the measures taken by the Executive Board and of the sanctions imposed on organisations.

The Genome Diagnostics section identifies and interprets abnormalities in DNA for diagnosis, for answering genetic questions in families with hereditary and congenital abnormalities, for treatment. The Genome Diagnostics section is accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council in accordance with standard NEN-EN-ISO 15189:2012 'Medical laboratories - Special requirements for quality and competence'. The laboratory of the Genome Diagnostics section has state-of-the-art techniques and equipment (from microscopy to whole genome sequencing). The Genome Diagnostics section is officially recognized as a training institute for clinical genetics laboratory specialists by the Society of Clinical Genetic Laboratory Diagnostics (VKGL). Staff members of the section participate in the curricula of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Utrecht University.

De VKGL (de beroepsvereniging van klinisch genetische laboratoriumspecialisten) bevordert de opleiding en de registratie van de leden als klinisch genetisch laboratoriumspecialisten.De 4-jarige opleiding tot klinisch genetische laboratoriumspecialisten (DNA-diagnostiek en cytogenetica) vindt plaats binnen de genoomdiagnostieklaboratoria van de universitair medische centra. De kwaliteit van de opleiding wordt bewaakt door een visitatiecommissie. Na afronding van de opleiding kunnen de opgeleide specialisten zich bij de VKGL registreren via een registratiecommissie. Het vakgebied van de laboratoriumspecialist klinische genetica omvat de diagnostiek van genetische- en/of metabole ziekten. Het laboratoriumonderzoek van de klinisch genetische laboratoria richt zich op diagnostisch onderzoek in diverse lichaamsmaterialen, met name bloed, urine, beenmerg, vruchtwater, chorion villi, ander biopsie materiaal of ander voor patiëntenzorg relevant materiaal.Het laboratoriumspecialisme klinische genetica is een medisch ondersteunend specialisme. De laboratoriumspecialist klinische genetica heeft een verantwoordelijkheid als medebehandelaar.Genoomdiagnostiek omvat constitutionele postnatale en prenatale moleculaire en cytogenetische diagnostiek en ook moleculaire en cytogenetische diagnostiek bij verworven hematologische maligniteiten.Het laboratoriumspecialisme klinische genetica wordt beoefend door erkende laboratoriumspecialisten klinische genetica opgenomen in het VKGL-beroepsregister. De klinisch genetische metabole diagnostiek kan eveneens worden uitgevoerd door erkend klinisch chemici met een aantekening erfelijke metabole ziekten. De laboratoriumspecialist klinische genetica opereert vaak op het snijvlak met andere (laboratorium)disciplines in de geneeskunde zoals laboratoriumgeneeskunde, pathologie, farmacie, kindergeneeskunde, neurologie, oncologie, hematologie, klinische genetica en gynaecologie.
