Company ten-second pitch in my own words: grow B2C relationships with realtime conversations on your website, via WhatsApp etc., all in one convenient place.I am the lead developer in the backend team and "last line of defence": all of the most complex problems eventually make their way to me, be it performance issues, serious operations incidents, security concerns, particularly strange bugs... you name it. I solve problems, and if I I have to read the source code of PostgreSQL or Django or glibc (that one is hypothetical, I've actually done the other two at Userlike) to do so, or learn a new programming language while on the job (I've done that twice at Userlike), I'll do it. One of my flagship projects is an internal service that handles hundreds of requests per second at sub-millisecond speeds, resolving a major performance bottleneck in our database transactions, designed for a careful balance of throughput and fault tolerance in the face of somewhat complex consistency requirements.Being part of a great team makes it even better, of course! I value being able to discuss ideas and problems with my colleagues because nobody ever thinks of everything and everyone has their own set of strengths, and I'm very happy to be working in an environment where (a) we're all happy to help each other out as needed and (b) nobody needs to hesitate to point out areas for improvement because all of us appreciate the input. That includes involving everyone in continuous improvement of business processes. We discuss ideas for that and then actually go ahead and test them... and if they don't work, we try something else. It's not perfect... but it keeps changing for the better.

Company ten-second pitch in my own words: modern quality management that gets you certified AND more productive, plus a plethora of helpful business apps all in one place.At Modell Aachen I was active in tier 2/3 customer support; I provided personalized deep-dive on-site trainings / technical workshops for our customers; I helped evolve the platform and core features of Modell Aachen's product, Q.Wiki; I helped customers clarify their business requirements and provided custom development solutions based on the Q.Wiki platform, e.g. mapping out complex multinational business workflows and creating custom apps to help streamline these workflows and improve visibility and traceability.I think I helped create a lot of value for the various customers I interacted with at Modell Aachen, and through many interesting challenges and a lot of contact with customers, I gained a lot of experience both in terms of development and development processes, and in terms of how companies "tick"... I wasn't active on the QM consulting side of things, but being involved in all areas of our customers' goals, pains and visions, I did gain a lot of valuable insight into what helps companies balance out agility and robustness.Ultimately I moved on because I wanted to be able to focus more of my attention on a single product (in contrast to a development platform) at a scale that brings with it an entirely different set of interesting challenges.
