Architect and Enterprise Java Consultant & Software engineer with over 20 years of experience in a variety of fields such as finance, education, health care and government. My specialties are mostly related to back-end processing: micro-services, authentication & authorization, integration (incl. SOAP and REST), messaging (JMS/AMQP), transaction management, NoSQL solutions, CQRS/event sourcing, batch processing etc. I've built many web applications as well. Technologies: expert level in Enterprise Java, the entire Spring ecosystem, Hibernate/JPA and many other OSS libraries and frameworks. I'm programming mostly in Java, but have also done lots of Groovy in the past and know my way around Kotlin as well. I started out as an R&D software engineer, investigating amongst other things the IBM SanFrancisco framework, an EJB predecessor. After working as a J2EE software engineer at PinkRoccade, I became an internal consultant at the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) in 2003, where I was responsible for all development technologies and processes used in the Java department. I streamlined the software configuration management process by introducing automated builds and continuous integration, migrated system development from a traditional EJB-based environment to a modern, light-weight stack based on Hibernate and Spring and supported developers in their day-to-day work as the local Java guru.In april 2007 I started as Senior Consultant at Interface21 (later SpringSource and Pivotal, now part of VMware), training Java developers in Spring and Java EE technologies as well as providing technical consultancy. In 2012 I joined Trifork Amsterdam, where I work as a hands-on architect on a wide range of projects. With Trifork being a Pivotal partner I still teach Spring courses occasionally as well, and in 2017 I joined the management team as CTO.
