Finix is a full-stack payments processor moving tens of billions of dollars for tens of thousands of merchants each year.I joined as an early employee, founding and leading Finix's marketing and communications team, where I implemented Finix's initial content, social media, and earned media strategies. Over my four years at Finix, my team and I generated hundreds of media mentions, tens of millions of organic social media impressions, and generated the majority of sales qualified leads for the company.In September 2020, I began leading all of Finix's go-to-market functions (sales, professional services, marketing, communications, and customer success) on an interim basis until our new Chief Revenue Officer joined in early 2021. Afterward, I continued to lead marketing and communications, as Finix's Chief Strategy Officer.

Arcadia is the largest electric utility data and community solar provider in the US, managing $100M+ of bill pay spend and 2GW of solar power generation each year. I led product development for Bundle, Arcadia’s utility remittance API offering. My team and I launched support for Virtual Net Metering data support and Remittance Summaries to help finance users reconcile payments with bill presentment. I led a cross-functional initiative (product, engineering, operations, and support) to rapidly specify and build new billing operations capabilities to unblock a large user migration for a pilot customer.

I was hired by Arcadia's CEO to analyze Arcadia’s community solar payments data and make detailed technical, product, and vendor-related cost reduction recommendations.

I was responsible for commerce and visual search-related product partnerships for Pinterest, where I Ied a cross-functional initiative (product, engineering, design, legal, marketing, and finance) to integrate Pinterest’s visual search technology into Samsung and LG devices. I also negotiated usage incentive agreements with international major Latin American telecommunication companies and worked closely with product and engineering to launch Pincodes, Pinterest's proprietary QR code format.

Managed relationships with ecommerce platforms (i.e. BigCommerce, Shopify), payments partners (i.e. Stripe, Braintree, MasterCard), and merchants (e.g., Kate Spade, Jarden, etc) participating in Pinterest's Buyable Pins program. I also served as a de facto implementations engineer, helping to onboard over a dozen large brands onto Pinterest’s in-app “Buyable Pins” program in six months.

Tilt Pro was a simple payment and customer referral tool for brands launching self-hosted pre-order and crowdfunding campaigns. One of my first initiatives as head of growth for Tilt Pro was to revamp our sales operations, which decreased lead qualification time by 80%.I also created and edited The Prototype, which was a weekly newsletter, funded by Tilt Pro, that featured the latest and greatest in consumer product launches. I created and grew The Prototype from 0 to 10K subscribers in five months with 40% avg. open rate and 6.5% avg. click rate.

Balanced was a payments API for online marketplaces and other P2P services that we sold to Stripe in 2015.We raised venture capital from Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator (W'11), SV Angel, and others. Balanced ceased operation in 2015 and we transitioned our customers to Stripe. To accomplish my mandates of growth and customer development, I performed and eventually hired a team for each of the following roles: customer support, sales, account management, marketing, and business development. My team grew Balanced's transaction volume by 17x in a two year period and I used feedback from my team to lead key product-market fit decisions such as offering ACH payouts as a standalone product and standardizing our volume pricing.

Milo was a local shopping search engine acquired by eBay for $75MM in December 2010. As Milo's first employee, I initially wrote web parsing scripts in Python to acquire data from retailer websites. Later, I managed a team of five in-house engineers and five offshore quality analysts to acquire data from over 150 retailers using a variety of sources.

MEST is a non-profit that incubates African technology startups.I was part of the founding faculty that developed and delivered MEST's initial curriculum and founding pedagogy. My responsibilities included creating, delivering, and grading lessons on idea generation, marketing, business plan writing, presentation skills, business models, and strategy. On the side, I learned the technical curriculum so I could be a more impactful teacher and began writing simple software programs in PHP.
