Philly Solidarity's mission is to amplify and unite AAPI voices, build understanding and solidarity across communities through grassroots organizing, and inspire positive cultural shifts as we make activism accessible and dismantle societal discrimination.501(c)(3) status official in March 2022!10 friends came together in five days to organize a city-wide rally and march to bring unity and awareness to the violence against the AAPI community. The one-day rally turned into something bigger. Community members began reaching out to tell us how proud they were to be a part of this community. Some wanted to learn how they could make an impact in the community. Some were reaching out for help.Without needing much consideration, Philly Solidarity was born.Since the rally, PS has begun creating community initiatives based on what we are hearing the community wants and needs. My favorite thing about being a BSA is being on both the business and IT sides. I enjoy the relationship and trust-building with the business, trying to get to the core of their problems and building out with them a salutation they are proud of. I also enjoy the technical, less human aspects of a project which is what the IT side gives me. To understand the limitations of the system and build around it. Pushing it where it can. Also, technology excites me. Being able to play around in the system to ensure quality before delivering the product to the clients is exciting.
