Delhaize Group is a Global 500, International Grocery Retailer with 3,400 stores across 7 countries and sales in excess of $28 billion.As the CFO - Emerging Markets, I was responsible for leading the strategy, finance and accounting functions in five countries with approximately $2 billion in sales, 550 stores and 400 finance and accounting associates. In addition:Led merger integration activities of a $1.2 billion acquisition that included identification of synergies, redesigning the organization structure, roles and responsibilities, and developing the short and long-term strategic plans for the acquired business. Led the simplification of the capital structure through the refinance of $400 million of debt acquired and acquisition of minority interests, resulting in $35 million of annual savings.Increased free cash flow by nearly 30% after the acquisition through disciplined, structural working capital changes, capital expenditure optimization and implementation of supply chain finance program.

As the Chief audit Executive, I was responsible for the Global Internal Audit function, consisting of more than 100 audit professionals in seven countries. Reported to the Global CFO (dotted line) and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors (solid line). In addition:Implemented a risk-based Advisory Services function within Internal Audit to partner with management on installing adequate frameworks of internal controls, particularly in system implementations. Worked closely with business partners from all operating companies to understand fully their perceived risks and align, where possible, audit planning to address concerns and provide value-add visibility to those areas.Appointed by the Audit Committee, CFO and General Counsel to oversee remediation efforts following an extensive data breach at the Company’s largest operating unit. Recommended changes in the organization and related processes and controls to ensure compliance with ISO 27002 and related information security standards.
