I specialize in managed aquifer recharge, aquifer storage and recovery, surface water - groundwater interaction, wetland (high water table) hydrology, groundwater resource assessment, and groundwater and surface water modeling. I have 25 years of experience with design, construction, and rehabilitation of wells, and the application of geophysical and aquifer testing methods to evaluate site-specific and regional aquifer parameters. I have designed, permitted, and constructed conjunctive use - managed aquifer recharge projects to supplement water resources as well as rehabilitation projects to offset hydromodification and enhance aquatic habitat. I have completed studies using introduced, natural, and isotopic tracers to determine chemical reactions between differing water chemistries and interactions with aquifer matrix to assess the feasibility of injection wells, aquifer storage and recovery, and sources and fates of groundwater. I have experience with the regulatory processes and oversight agencies involved with California surface and groundwater resource planning (including public outreach) to fund and implement on-the-ground programs.I am experienced in sediment load analysis, remote sensing, and field mapping of bank and bed stability factors. I have designed and installed long-term remote data collection monitoring networks with real-time GIS connectivity. I have utilized advanced subsurface exploration methods, such as ground penetrating radar, cone penetrometer, and seismic profiling to develop complex sub-surface stratigraphic models. I have provided expert testimony in both hearings and litigation regarding hydrology, groundwater recharge, inter-basin groundwater flow, storm water, and fate analysis.I am currently the Chair of the Seaside Watermaster Technical Advisory Committee, a member of the Groundwater Technical Advisory Committee for the Salinas Valley Groundwater Sustainability Agency, and on the Santa Cuz City Water Commission.
