Husband of Jenny and Father of three (Leukos, Aurora Joy, Zaiden) A South Central Los Angeles native, 17-year Compton Unified Educator and Founder/CEO of twiGs Creation, Inc., Jason Lee Morgan was a “bussed kid,” and lived firsthand the inequities of our school system having to travel an hour outside of his community on a bus each day to receive a quality education. His unique experience with public schools and systemic injustice trauma growing up as a young Black male has empowered him to champion culturally sustaining, engaging, and equitable learning experiences for all families who stay in their local district and to elevate the unique assets that exist in the culture and people of communities of color. Jason has made it his mission to combat what he calls "Joy Deserts" in order to close the "Joy Equity Gap" where certain communities have greater and more protected access to joyful teaching and learning experiences. Mr. Morgan has been the recipient of numerous awards such as the Carlston Outstanding Teacher of America Award, Legacy Champion Educator Award, American Graduate Champion, CA League of Schools Regional Teacher of the Year, and Compton Unified Teacher of the Year. Jason serves as an education advocate at the local and state level as a Teach Plus CA and Ed-Trust West Policy Fellow and Advisor. He also serves as an Early Career Teacher Mentor, Advisory Board Member, and Conference Presenter/Designer with the Teacher Leadership Academy of the Above & Beyond Teaching public charity.
